About ANRIA Qatar
Three answers that explain the association faster than a page of history: who we are, what we do, and why any of it matters.
A vibrant community bringing together people from Angamaly and surrounding regions who have made Qatar their home.
Engineers and nurses, teachers and technicians, business owners and students — families who arrived in different decades and for different reasons, and who share one place of origin and one adopted home.
We create opportunities for members and families to connect through cultural programs, sports, community initiatives, celebrations, charity and meaningful shared experiences.
Onam and Thiruvonaravam, the Kalyana Thalennu mega show, badminton and chess tournaments, winter gatherings, blood donation camps, and the quieter work of showing up when a member family needs help.
To build relationships, preserve our cultural connection, support one another and create a stronger community for current and future generations.
Because distance erodes things quietly. A language stops being spoken at home, a festival passes unmarked, a family manages a hard year alone. ANRIA exists so none of that happens by default.

What We Do
A year-round calendar built by members, for members — and open to every family from our region living in Qatar.
Onam — Thiruvonaravam, Shravanolsavam and the pookkalam competition — plus stage shows like Kalyana Thalennu, performed and cooked by members rather than bought in.
The ANRIA Grand Master Chess Challenge and our badminton squads, who took first and second place at the QTICKETS 12th anniversary tournament.
The winter gathering and seasonal get-togethers, built around cooking, eating and performing together rather than around a stage and a schedule.
Practical help where it is needed — medical assistance, support for families in difficulty, and the phone calls nobody advertises.
Blood donation camps run with the Hamad Blood Donation Centre, housing support for families in severe need, and medical assistance back home.
Anniversary nights, the Torch Bearers Award for our founding members, and the association turning up for private milestones as reliably as public ones.

ANRIA Qatar published its tenth-anniversary souvenir magazine, 'ANRIA AL-Ashar', unveiled by Mrs Bindu N Nair, Second Secretary for Education and Culture at the Indian Embassy. It records ten years of the association's cultural, sporting, charitable and community work alongside members' stories, poems, articles and interviews.
The poster for ANRIA Qatar's Grand Master Chess Challenge Season 1, run with Pride Deal, was unveiled at Qatar GEMS American Academy. Competitions are planned across the under-8, 10, 12 and 14 age groups, with around 300 young players from several countries expected at Al Jazeera Academy on 27 March.
Working with the Hamad Blood Donation Centre and supported by Blood Donors Kerala (BDK Qatar), ANRIA Qatar ran a blood donation camp on Friday 19 December 2025. 126 donors came forward — part of a wider programme that also covers housing support for families in need and medical assistance.
At the badminton tournament held on 6 December 2025 at Beta Cambridge International School, Al Meshaf, ANRIA Qatar entered three teams against a field of around sixteen. Jofin Edakkalathur and Midhun Jose took first place in men's doubles, with Hari Krishnan and Richard Jose second.

Our Story
ANRIA Qatar grew the way most expatriate associations do — out of a handful of families who realised they all came from the same twenty kilometres of Kerala, and that meeting deliberately was better than meeting by chance.
What began as occasional gatherings became a structured association with a committee, a calendar and a clear purpose: to give members from Angamaly and its neighbouring panchayats a platform to connect, engage and grow together.
